Barbès Records is thrilled to be part of the Records Store Day celebration and as a token of its commitment has enlisted Chicha Libre and friends Dengue Fever to mark the day.
Barbès Records is thrilled to be part of the celebration and as a token of its commitment has enlisted Chicha Libre and friends Dengue Fever to mark the day.
Our contribution is a limited edition of Dengue Fever and Chicha Libre's joint 7" vinyl. The record, of which only a 1,000 copies were printed celebrates Record Store Day, as well as Dengue Fever and Chicha Libre's joint US tour in April.
The two bands share a common esthetic which has them draw inspiration from pop experiments largely left out of the mainstream. By embracing Cambodian Rock or Peruvian Chicha, the two are expanding the traditional musical palette available to bands around the world. In the process, they are creating a new global sound that owes more to the Indie sensibility than the World music of a previous generation.
